Never say never: The saying, which is often used in song lyrics and also in film titles, also applies to aviation. After the Covid-19 pandemic forced the world into its own four walls, and airlines decided in their fight for survival to mothball the superjumbo A380 or retire it altogether, British Airways was one of the operators of this type, retiring the Boeing 747 earlier than planned, but planned to return its fleet of twelve A380s to service as soon as possible. Since 2021, all superjumbos have gradually returned to service, including G-XLEF, the sixth A380 originally delivered to British Airways in 2014.
