With the D-AIHE "Leverkusen", a new official release of the Aviationtag x Lufthansa Collection lands: a real piece of Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 history.

The four-engine long-haul jet was delivered to Lufthansa in January 2004 and shaped the airline's intercontinental fleet for many years. In its final years, D-AIHE already wore the new Lufthansa livery – before its active career ended in 2020.

Particularly unusual: D-AIHE was not only a passenger aircraft, but also part of the IAGOS-CARIBIC research program. Between 2004 and March 2020, the aircraft completed around 500 measurement flights for climate and atmospheric research. While passengers crossed continents, scientific equipment on board collected valuable data at cruising altitude.

The Airbus A340-642 with MSN 540 was parked in Teruel in 2020 and scrapped in 2025. From original material from this aircraft, we are now producing a strictly limited Aviationtag Edition – officially licensed by Lufthansa and made for collectors, Lufthansa fans and real AvGeeks.
